October is the time for fall fun & festivities…Fall Carnivals, visits to the pumpkin patch, putting up spooky Halloween decorations, warming up with a tasty mug of hot apple cider, and dressing up to go trick-or-treating.  But that’s not all October has to offer- check out all of our great tips, events, classes, and products below!

SCRAPBOOKING TIPS
This is the time of year to do a little fall organizing including sorting through all of your old photos piled up in boxes that need to be scrapbooked. Sometimes it can be a little overwhelming to know where to start when you have piles of photos that span years worth of time, and a lot of times, we put it off because it seems too big of a task to even contemplate. But don’t let it get to you- start small. Instead of trying to organize piles of photos spanning several years, choose a specific event, season, or holiday, preferably a more recent one, and focus on getting just that one event scrapbooked.  It’s not necessary to start with the oldest photos and work your way forward chronologically, and in fact may feel more daunting to do so. By starting with more recent photos, they will be easier to scrapbook because the event is still fresh in your memory.  And by sorting and scrapbooking your photos event by event and working backward, it helps to create smaller, more manageable groups of photos to work with, and will give you a sense of accomplishment each time you finish each event.  I usually will work on 2 or 3 separate events at a time and bounce back & forth between them, so that I don’t get burnt out on one specific theme (ex- Christmas 2010, Wedding, Mexico Trip). And to keep even more organized when you sort your events, use a 12×12 accordion file and slip all of the photos, memorabilia, scrapbook papers & embellishments that go with the event into one slot so that when you get around to scrapbooking that event, all of the items you need are already together (you can also use pizza boxes or 12×12 photo boxes or other scrapbook organizers to sort your supplies and photos by event, but an accordian file will allow you to keep several events separate, but all in one container, portable & easily accessible without taking up much space).

Temperatures are rising, and it seems that summer is in full swing.  Everyone is rushing around carting the kids to softball games, the pool, Vacation Bible School, the park, and here to the store for our Kids’ Craft Camp and Kids’ Scrapbook Club.  But don’t forget to take some time off to relax and enjoy some time to yourself.  We don’t just have kids’ classes during the summer, we have lots of fun classes and crops for Mom throughout the summer too!  So check out our calendar and set aside some time to yourself to come in and get creative!  We also have free open crop time M-F 11am-5pm for you to come in and work on your own projects, and you can use any of the tools in our crop area absolutely free! (Check the calendar before coming out for open crop times to be sure no kids’ classes are going on during that time.)

Kids’ Classes- it’s not too late to sign your kids up for our summer Kids’ Craft Camp or our Kids’ Scrapbook Club.

• In the Kids’ Craft Camp, we are offering a different craft each week, so whether you sign them up for one class, or all of them, they are sure to have a great time and go home with quality finished craft items that they will treasure for years to come.  And for a super low price of only $10.00 per child for each class, it’s affordable and won’t break the bank whether you have 1 child or several children attending! This class is open to kids ages 5 and up.
• In the Kids’ Scrapbook Club, they will be working on completing a 20 page 8×8 scrapbook album.  This class meets for an hour and a half once a week for 5 weeks (they will complete 4 pages per week) and includes all materials including 8×8 album in the color of their choice.  We have held 2 classes so far, but don’t worry, it’s not too late to join in- we will be holding a make-up day at the end of the 5 weeks in case you missed any classes for late registration or due to vacation or conflicting schedule.  It’s only $65.00 and is open to kids ages 8 and up.
